WhatsApp is reportedly gearing up to bring a small change to its pinned messages feature.

The company is now experimenting with support for nearly four pinned messages in group chats and individuals.

As per WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned WhatsApp currently enabled users to keep a maximum of three messages pinned at the top of a conversation; however, the new limit gives users one additional slot, streamlining user experience.

How the fourth pinned message works

Follow these steps to easily pin message:

1: Initially, users are required to tap and hold the message they want to keep at the top.

2: Choose the pin option and select how long they need the message to remain pinned.

3: Once pinned, the latest message would join the other three at the start of the conversation. Users with some pinned messages can click the pinned message bar to move between them.

The reported feature willl be compatible with both group chats and individual conversations. In group chats, however, the additional slot could be highly useful because users sometimes lose essential information in active discussion.

Notably, group admins will have the authority to pin messages via the existing group permissions.

Three pinned messages may not be enough for some busy groups. For example, a group could be required to keep an event announcement, important instructions, a location, and a schedule easily accessible.

WhatsApp new feature availability

Currently, the four-message limit is accessible to several Android beta testers. The Meta-owned WhatsApp is allowing the feature via a gradual launch.

It is pertinent to mention WhatsApp has yet to officially confirm when the feature will reach the stable Android variant or other platforms.
