The Chainsmokers concert in San Jose descended into chaos after 14 people were rushed to hospital during the show.
On Friday, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall took the stage at Discovery Meadow, with the fire department responding a little more than three hours after the concert began.
According to the San Jose Fire Department, crews responded to reports of “multiple patients requiring medical attention” at 8:22 p.m.
“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,” a separate post read.
The post added, “A total of 14 ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.”
The fire department also assisted with traffic control around the outdoor venue before returning “to service at approximately 10:34 p.m.”
The police department told NBC Bay Area that those taken to hospital were experiencing medical issues, including “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.”
According to police, 10 concertgoers were taken to hospital in the final 30 minutes of the performance.
Footage showed ambulances and firetrucks parked near the concert venue. The San Jose show began at 5 p.m. at Discovery Meadow, before The Chainsmokers performed at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas the following day.
The Chainsmokers are due back in Las Vegas for performances at the Wynn on September 19 and 25.
Later this year, the duo will embark on a three-day tour of India, beginning in Mumbai on December 18.
Taggart and Pall will then travel to Delhi on December 19 and then a final stop in Bengaluru on December 20.
The Chainsmokers have kept busy beyond touring, recently releasing the German single “Inundauswendig” with rapper Makko. In May, they also dropped the EP Love Is Kind with Oaks.
