Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro's romance has reached the big screens! 

The couple - who are dating since February last year is set to work together in a major AI-centered project directed by Luca Guadagnino.  

On Tuesday, September 8th, the new Artificial Intelligence distributor, Neon, released the first look at the upcoming film, showing Andrew as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Monica as Mira Murati. 

The upcoming movie focuses on the most chaotic week of Sam's life in 2023, when he was fired and rehired by OpenAI in 2023. 

Notably, the one-minute and seventeen-second first trailer also includes the creation of the artificial intelligence company and the launch of ChatGPT.

A look on Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro's role in Artificial?

Andrew escalates fans' excitement with attention-grabbing dialogue in the movie, as he dramatically said, "We opened Pandora’s box together."  

"The future's inevitable. Countries will fall. Industries are gonna collapse, and we get to be the ones to shepherd people into this new world," the Amazing Spider-Man star whispered in the teaser.  

While Monica, who will be seen playing as the chief technology officer of OpenAI, was visibly absent from the new trailer of the 2026 comedic drama. 

Apart from Andrew and Monica, Yura Borisov, who shot to fame with his role in Anora, has portrayed OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, and Ike Barinholtz plays Elon Musk, also a co-founder of OpenAI. 

Fans' reaction over Artificial 

As the new teaser gained momentum on social media, the new look received mixed reactions from fans; many praised the Emmy-nominated actor for his massive acting comeback, while many are unfazed about the film's AI genre.

One user said, "Are people seriously getting upset because a movie is about AI? Do performative." 

"Time will tell if we made the right decision advancing AI or not," another added.

While a third bashed, "Tbh I’m with criticising tech moguls but this looks corny." 

"Garfield was great in the social network," a fourth defended.

Artificial is set for the wider release on December 25th, 2026.
