Team USA crushed Hungary 108-56 in the FIBA Women’s World Cup quarterfinals on Thursday in Berlin, advancing to the semifinals with a record-setting performance.
The Americans jumped out to a 36-12 lead after the first quarter and never looked back posting the highest first-half total in team World Cup knockout history at 59-30.
Explosive start seals early control
Collier scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead all scorers. Rhyne Howard added 15 points and four steals, while Caitlin Clark finished with 10 points and nine assists.
Kahleah Copper and Jackie Young also scored 10 points each. Every USA player scored as the team shot 59 percent from the field and made 12 three-pointers.
Balanced attack and defense overwhelm Hungary
USA recorded 31 assists and 17 steals, forcing turnovers into easy transition baskets. Hungary was limited to 56 points with Reka Lelik leading them with 12 and Agnes Torok adding 11. Dorka Juhasz managed just two points on 1-of-12 shooting despite eight rebounds.
The win extends USA’s long unbeaten streak in the competition and sets up a semifinals clash against the winner of Spain vs Australia. The Americans controlled the paint, converted steals into points and maintained intensity even in the quieter fourth quarter.
This dominant display puts the defending champions firmly on course for another deep run at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
