P!nk has spoken out after being criticised for supporting Macklemore's speech during an Ed Sheeran concert.
After receiving the immense backlash for backing her fellow musician, the Get the Party Started hitmaker kickstarted a firestorm of controversy.
Following P!nk, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, opened the door to Macklemore's headline-grabbing pro-Palestine speech when he joined Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour last week.
Since then, the singer has been scrutinised, and now the remarks are reportedly "beyond her control" as she has finally broken her silence over the ongoing controversy.
On Friday, September 11th, P!nk turned to her Instagram account to share her side of the story on supporting Macklemore’s Pro-Palestine speech.
A brief response
"I've been quiet in my own words for a week, which you know isn’t like me. So here they are. Last Sunday I reposted somebody else’s post about Macklemore's set at Ed Sheeran’s show. It said things in words I didn't write, and I wouldn’t have chosen all of them," she began.
The What About Us crooner further continued, "Then the comments came, and I did what I do when I’m hurt, which is post snarky memes and act like I’m fine. That’s on me. A repost isn’t a statement, and a meme isn’t a spine."
"Social media makes all of us cheap and fast, and we all know it. But I’d rather be disagreed with for what I actually said than hated for what anybody else wrote, so let me say it," the Grammy-winning musician added.
The 47-year-old American singer and songwriter further revealed that her biological roots are from a Jewish family and she "was born a Jew."
"I didn’t pick it, and I’ve never hidden it. And this week a whole lot of people decided what I believe without asking me, without checking a single thing I’ve ever said or done, because a repost and the word "Jew" were apparently enough to fill in the rest. But let me fill it in... myself," she continued.
P!nk was ever part of UNICEF?
She concluded her stance by clarifying that she will not speak for Israel and for any government, as she only supports humanity above all.
Spending ten years of her life as a dedicated UNICEF ambassador also means not allowing the musician to not speak for children’s lives.
So far, neither Micklemore nor Ed Sheeran have responded to P!nk’s lengthy statement.
P!nk's upcoming projects
P!nk is currently channelling her energy into her 10th studio album, which is reportedly "almost complete".
After wrapping up her massive, multi-year Summer Carnival and Trustfall tours in late 2024, she quietly retreated to the studio to map out her next era.
