Macklemore has issued an open challenge to Ed Sheeran as he continues to advocate for Palestine.
Just days after Ed broken his silence on Macklemore Loop Tour controversy, the Thrift Shop singer turned to his Instagram account to once again brought back the attention to the real issue, which is "Palestanians'" sufferings.
In his deeply emotional statement, Macklemore announced donations of $1million to six major organisations supporting and aiding the people of Gaza since the genocide began in October 2023.
Macklemore not only announced the generous donation, he also challened Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillete Stadium, to match the amount to serve the social cause, keeping their disagreement aside.
"With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom," the Glorius singer began in his statement.
He went on to share, "I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth."
"That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland," added the 43-year-old singer.
Before concluding his message, Macklemore noted, "That is where my focus will remain. I will continue to stand with the Palestinian people and their fight for liberation."
Soon after Macklemore made the announcement, his followers, including some of the very prominent figures showed support with heart reactions and praises for the pop artist.
One user commented, “A man of action. A man of conviction. A man of integrity.”
Another wrote, “May your endless generosity be returned to you 100 fold, and may Palestine and all people be free!”
“In a world full of Pinks and Ed Sheerans, be a Macklemore” noted a third.
“Ed Sheeran has a net worth of over $400 million, I guess he needed more..” added another.
