Anticipation for the upcoming Hunger Games movie has reached a fever pitch among fans.
On Wednesday, September 16, Lionsgate dropped the much-awaited new trailer for Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, sparking a buzz of excitement among fans.
The thrilling new preview gave fans a closer look at young Haymitch Abernathy (played by Joseph Zada) and the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
For those unaware, the upcoming installment is set 24 years before the original Hunger Games and follows Haymitch, as he is selected to compete in the Second Quarter Quell.
The story “follows Haymitch into the arena, where he forms an unlikely alliance with fellow tribute Maysilee Donner (Mckenna Grace) and joins a coalition determined to challenge the Capitol’s control under President Snow (Ralph Fiennes). As the competition unfolds, Haymitch risks everything to take down the Games from within the arena — setting in motion the rebellion that will change Panem forever,” according to the synopsis.
In the trailer, Zada’s Haymitch can be seen fighting for his survival while navigating the deadly consequences and his moral compass.
The Second Quarter Quell is set to feature a very different from the usual Hunger Games as it will see Capitol forces send twice as many tributes in each district, making Haymitch’s fight for survival even more dangerous and challenging.
