Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $157.5 million contract extension, as per ESPN sources.
The deal was finalized Friday after months of talks between George’s agent, Jason Ranne of The Team, and Jazz president of basketball operations Austin Ainge.
A report suggested the deal does not include either a team option or a player option, George’s new contract will account for approximately 16% of Utah’s salary cap.
Breakout 2025-26 season
George, 22, was selected by the Jazz with the 16th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. He established himself as an important part of Utah’s rebuilding plans after a career-best season.
During the 2025-26 campaign, George averaged 23.6 points and 6.1 assists per game, while shooting 45.6% from the field and 37.1% from three-point range.
All four figures represented career highs for the young guard, strengthening his position as an essential part of the franchise’s future.
Jazz plan young backcourt
Utah expects George to form a promising backcourt collaboration with Darryn Peterson, whom the team selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
The Jazz have spent recent seasons rebuilding their roster and are seeking to step forward in the forthcoming campaign.
The team also strengthened its frontcourt by buying Jaren Jackson Jr., a two-time NBA All-Star, at the trade deadline.
With George secured on a long-term contract, Utah will look to build around its young core while aiming to intensify competitive in the Western Conference.
