Michael P. Desronvil, the lone holdout juror who forced a mistrial in the triple murder case against Lindsay Clancy, has stated publicly that he has “no doubt” the Massachusetts mother intentionally killed her children.
Clancy, 36, faced first-degree murder charges after strangling her children – Cora, Dawson and Callan – at their home in Duxbury before attempting suicide.
Evidence points to intentional murder
Following a mistrial declared by the judge after nearly 40 hours of deadlocked deliberations, Desronvil revealed that the physical evidence and witness testimony presented by prosecutors convinced him Clancy was fully aware of her actions.
While 11 panel members voted to find her not guilty by reason of insanity, Desronvil remained resolute, insisting the killings were premeditated rather than the result of a mental health breakdown.
Tension inside the deliberation room
Desronvil described tense atmosphere inside the jury room, referring to fellow jurors as “activists” who he claimed were eager to excuse Clancy’s actions from day one.
His stance stood in direct opposition to the defense’s argument that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and could not resist harmful impulses.
Past accusations and political context
Public scrutiny around Desronvil intensified after details surfaced regarding a past domestic violence charge against him, though it was ultimately dismissed.
In response to public backlash, Desronvil maintained that he is being unfairly targeted due to his conservative values and status as a Black Republican serving on a predominantly left-leaning panel.
As prosecutors evaluate whether to pursue a second trial, Desronvil stands firm on his verdict maintaining that Clancy knew exactly what she was doing.
