Travis Kelce was named a victim in a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme earlier this week, as a federal court sentenced the man behind the scam.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, US District Judge Zachary M. Bluestone sentenced Siddharth "Sid" Jawahar, 38, to 11 years in prison. Jawahar was also ordered to pay $31.35 million in restitution to his victims.
He pleaded guilty in January to three counts of wire fraud.
Prosecutors reveal Siddharth Jawahar's marriage plans
On Friday, September 19, it was revealed that the undocumented Indian immigrant behind the scheme tried to marry an American citizen before he was handed his decade-long sentence.
Federal prosecutors opposed Siddharth Jawahar's request to marry Caroline Tredway, saying he may be attempting "to obtain immigration status in the United States," according to a September 4 filing in the US District Court for Eastern District of Missouri.
Jawahar’s lawyer, however, insisted his client was not engaging in "marriage fraud" and said Tredway was willing to buy a $25 wedding ring and spend another $75 on an "officiant"to perform the ceremony.
How was Travis Kelce scammed?
Jawahar ran Swiftarc Capital LLC, a Texas-based investment firm. From July 2016 through December 2023, he collected more than $35 million from investors but only put about $10 million into actual investments.
He used money from new investors to pay earlier ones and spent the rest on a lavish lifestyle.
According to a 2021 Forbes article, Kelce was an investor in the Swiftarc Venture Labs Fund, which Jawahar co-founded.
The report came as fans saw the Chiefs winning 31-10 against the Denver Broncos on Monday, September 14.
During the thrilling game, Kelce passed Jason Witten to claim the No. 2 spot for career receiving yards by a tight end n NFL history, right behind Tony Gonzalez.
The match was attended by his wife and pop icon Taylor Swift, alongside Jason Kelce, Donna Kelce and Tom Cruise.
