Sweden's future Queen is celebrating the country's tradition with a rare royal engagement alongside her family.
King Carl Gustaf's heir apparent has explored Mother Nature with her husband, Prince Daniel, and her only daughter, Princess Estelle, to mark the annual recurring theme day of the state.
What is Sweden's Right of Public Access Day?
Every year, the Swedish Royal Family celebrates Right of Public Access Day, which is also known as the Day of the General Court.
This special occasion marks and honours the Freedom to Roam, which is a unique, constitutionally protected right deeply embedded in Swedish culture and identity.
The key aspects of this event include celebrating National Heritage, promoting Outdoor activity, and reinforcing environmental responsibility.
After the celebration, the Palace took to its official Instagram account on Sunday, September 20th, to release exclusive photos of the royals exploring and roaming freely, and passing on the new traditions to the upcoming generation.
A royal message
"The Day of the General Court was celebrated today by the Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle, who together went for a hike in the Nackare Reserve," the Royal Family captioned.
They added, "The day, which is an annual recurring theme day, aims to get more Swedes to experience nature and the outdoors."
Notably, the tradition is seemingly indicating that Britain's Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has a deeply personal interest in Mother Nature and is also inspired by Sweden’s historic tradition.

For context, Catherine – who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in 2024- often expressed her passion and fascination with nature, which reportedly helped her in healing from the illness.
Despite completing her preventative chemotherapy treatment later in 2024 and announcing she was in remission by January 2025, Her Royal Highness has not revealed whether Sweden’s tradition is behind her fascination for nature.
Who is Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden?
It is pertinent to note that Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland, is the heir apparent to the Swedish throne as the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
Princess Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland, is her only daughter and Prince Oscar, Duke of Skåne, is her son, whom she shares with Prince Daniel.
