Dolly Parton’s estate has filed a lawsuit against her nephew and former head of security Bryan Seaver, alleging he made threats of violence and intimidation while demanding money following the singer’s death.
According to a memorandum supporting the restraining order, Seaver began an alleged “campaign of threats, intimidation and coercion” weeks before the Jolene singer died on August 25, after reportedly becoming aware that her death could be imminent.
“Mr. Seaver began invoking his self-proclaimed military-contractor experience, access to weapons, and capacity for violence to extort [Parton’s estate] into giving into his demands for money,” the filing reads.
After serving as Parton’s head of security for over 20 years, Seaver allegedly claimed to be an “international arms dealer and mercenary” and spoke of plans for “long-term vengeance,” according to court documents.
“I am [seeking] vengeance for my people for the next 50 years. I have no debt. I only own swords and guns,” he allegedly told Parton’s longtime manager Danny Nozell.
He added, “All I have is animosity and memory. But I’m going to spend the next times I have on earth ratf---ing anyone that has ever betrayed my family… All I do is warfare… Everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”
Seaver allegedly called himself “a killer” in a September 3 email to Parton’s attorney, claiming he sold $27 million worth of arms and ammunition to Haitian police on the day she died.
On September 1, Seaver allegedly threatened to become the “hand of retribution” for his family and warned the attorney he would “f--- everyone” if Parton’s money wasn’t sufficient.

According to a September 22 complaint, employees at Parton’s She’s Alive, LLC allegedly resigned out of fear of Seaver and his “heavily-armed confederates.”
Bryan Seaver was fired on September 16, 2026, after more than 20 years as Dolly Parton’s head of security.
Court documents later alleged his dismissal followed a campaign of threats and extortion.
