Mushtaq Khan, veteran Bollywood actor best known for his iconic role in Welcome, has passed away at the age of 56.
Mushtaq Khan's cause of death revealed
Confirming the heartbreaking news, his business partner Shivam shared that the actor was battling lung cancer.
It was revealed that the actor was diagnosed with cancer some years ago but made a recovery after undergoing treatment.
However, the cancer returned around eight days before his tragic death.
After his condition took a turn for the worst, he was admitted to hospital.
As reported by India Today, Mushtaq was admitted to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital for his treatment.
"He passed away around 7 p.m. on Thursday. He had been detected with lung cancer earlier and had got well. However, it relapsed eight days back and had to be admitted to the hospital. It was late stage cancer," Shivam informed HT City.
About Mushtaq Khan's impressive career
Mushtaw Khan has been working in Hindi films for decades and appeared alongside several notable names and became known for his performances in hit movies including Hera Pheri and Rowdy Rathore.
He was also part of more recent films including Gadar 2, Badhaai Do and Stree 2.
Among his best-known performances was his role in Welcome (2007) alongside Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, in which his "Meri ek taang nakli hai, main hockey ka bahot bada khiladi tha. Ek din Uday bhai..." monologue remained famous years after the film was released.
