Meghan Markle and Malala Yousafzai have joined forces for an impactful cause.
The Duchess of Sussex took to her official Instagram account on Sunday, October 11, to share a joint post with the Pakistani activist from their recent meet-up for afternoon tea at Claridge’s in London’s Mayfair.
In the update, the Duchess shared a quote of her and Malala, which read, ““When we support the girls of today, we empower the women of tomorrow. Access to education is the key to unlocking this.” – Meghan, Duchess of Sussex & Malala Yousafzai.”
The two, who have collaborated once in the past for a special cause, announced that they have once again teamed up for a major initiative for girls, marking the International Day of the Girl, which is celebrated annually on October 11.
Meghan announced that her lifestyle brand As Ever is set to back Malala Funds to provide girls with an access to free, safe and quality education.
She revealed that all of the profit generated through the sales of As Ever jams and teas will go directly to Malala Funds.
“This International Day of the Girl, in partnership with Archewell Philanthropies, 100% of net proceeds from As Ever jams and teas will support Malala Fund and its vital work to ensure that every girl has access to free, safe, quality education,” the mother of two wrote in the caption.
She concluded her post, expressing, “Tea for Two has never felt so good. Shop at asever.com.”
Malala Yousafzai and Meghan Markle’s previous collaboration
Meghan Markle and Malala Yousafzai previous teamed up back in October 2020 for a virtual conversation hosted by the Malala Fund to celebrate the International Day of the Girl.
In the meeting, which was also joined by Prince Harry, they discussed the global barriers preventing young women from accessing education.
Their conversation also focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic risked keeping millions of girls out of school permanently, with an emphasis on girls’ education being a fundamental human right essential for fighting poverty and building a more equal world.
