Australian singer and actress Delta Goodrem has shared an update on her recovery following a rib injury that forced her to miss this week’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Lost Without You star confirmed on Wednesday that she would be resting at home instead of performing in Saturday’s episode, following medical advice to take a break.

Goodrem stated she was disappointed to miss the competition; however, she remained hopeful about returning to the dancefloor soon.

Taking to Instagram, Goodrem expressed gratitude to the fans for their supportive messages and comments, stating their encouragement had meant a great deal to her during the difficult week.

She penned down, “Just wanted to come on here and say a big Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and wrote lovely comments the last couple of days, I see them all Not the start to the week I’d hoped for but your support has meant the world.”

The singer also expressed gratitude to her professional dance partner, Kai Widdrington, writing, “Also special big thank you to my amazing dance partner @kaiwidd who I will miss dancing with this weekend but I am so beyond grateful for his guidance and friendship through it all.. aswell as the wonderful Strictly team!! Resting and recovering at home and will be cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night xx.“

She accompanied the update with a photograph of herself relaxing under a blanket on a sofa, surrounded by bouquets of flowers.

The injury comes after an impressive run on the BBC dance competition. Goodrem and Widdrington topped the judges’ leaderboard for the past two weeks and scored 33 points for their salsa performance last week.
