David Surkamp has breathed his last.
In a tragic update, the ‘70s progressive rock band Pavlov’s Dog took to its official Facebook account on Thursday, October 15, to announce that the band’s frontman and lead singer Surkamp has died unexpectedly at the age of 73.
They penned, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our creative force, lead singer, and dear friend, David Surkamp, on October 13.”
Pavlog’s Dog expressed that Surkamp has left behind a rich musical legacy, known for his creativity, poetic spirit and emotional performances.
They noted that those who knew him remembered his generosity towards fellow musicians and his passion for performing, even during difficult times, and also spoke about the singer’s deep love for his wife, Sara.
In the statement, the band further penned, “There are no words sufficient for a loss of this magnitude. We are heartbroken. We are grateful. We will carry David, his music, and the memories created with us always. Our deepest condolences are with Saylor, Evan, and the Surkamp family as well as the Pavlov's Dog family as we walk together through this difficult time of grief.”
They concluded, “We would love to hear from you if you want to share a remembrance in the comments or private message. They will be cherished. With love and deepest gratitude, Abbie Steiling. On behalf of Pavlov’s Dog.”
