K-pop idol Mino, whose real name is Song Min-ho, has been ordered to re-enlist for 102 days due to allegations of violating the Military Service Act.
On Friday, October 16, the Military Manpower Administration stated, "We are reviewing the process for re-enlistment."
Initial sentence for Mino
Previously, the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 10 sentenced Song Min-ho to one year in prison after he was indicted on charges of violating the Military Service Act, for failing to appear at his duty station for 102 days.
While the court acknowledged Song Min-ho's absence from duty, it considered factors such as his admission of guilt and reflection, as well as his health condition appearing to affect his service, which led to the new sentence.
Mino did not appeal within seven days of the ruling, finalising the first-instance verdict.
Consequently, the Military Manpower Administration is reviewing the re-enlistment process for Song Min-ho's 102 days of unauthorised absence.
The rapper worked as a social service worker at the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation from March 2023 and at the Mapo Residents' Welfare Facility from March to December 2024.
However, suspicions of negligent duty arose ahead of his scheduled discharge.
Accusations against WINNER's Mino
During his service, he reportedly failed to adhere to commuting hours, and even when he reported for duty, he allegedly avoided civil complaint tasks, citing his status as a celebrity, and spent time playing games or smoking before leaving work.
According to the prosecution's indictment, Song Min-ho was absent without authorisation for 102 days.
Moreover, in July 2024, he worked only 4 out of 23 scheduled workdays. During this period, Mr. A, the facility manager, was indicted for allegedly manipulating attendance records by manually writing Song Min-ho's work logs and providing undue favours.
