Hilary Swank isn’t staying silent about criticism over her pregnancy at 52.
The Million Dollar Baby actress, who announced being pregnant with her third child this week, finally broke her cover and proudly flaunted her growing baby bump on Thursday, October 15.
During her latest appearance, Swank sat down for an interview with Drew Barrymore, which is set to air on October 20, 2026.
In the conversation, the American actress, who is expecting her third child at the age of 52, called out the criticism she has received on conceiving at an older age.
The Ordinary Angels star bluntly called out the double standard of criticizing older women for getting pregnant while men who father children later in life face little to no backlash.
“There’s a lot of backlash women get for having children older but not men, which is interesting,” she told the host, who then responded that the double standard is “weird” as “men have babies in their like 80s, and that’s not a euphemism or a joke.”
Barrymore added, “You had kids in your 40s, and people weren’t always gracious about it.”
Swank, who gave birth to twins Aya and Ohn at the age of 48 back in 2023, recalled a woman saying to her, “How dare you? You’re too old.”
She explained that the woman lost her father, who was her “favorite person,” in her 20s, which was a “devastating” experience for her.
Rather than take offense, the actress attempted to relate to the woman’s position.
“I related to it because my dad [has] also passed, but he was one of my favorite people on earth,” the Fatale actress stated, adding, “I thought to myself, ‘well, I would rather be born and have that person that was my favorite person and experience that than not at all.'”
Hilary Swank announces third pregnancy
Taking to her official Instagram handle on Wednesday, October 14, Hilary Swank made a joyful announcement, revealing that she is expecting her third baby with husband Philip Schneider.
In a very creative way, the 52-year-old actress and film producer broke the big news, dropping a video of herself, Schneider and their three-year-old twins, Aya and Ohm, dancing and wearing what appeared to be glow sticks taped to their bodies as they glowed in darkness.
The clip also saw Swank flaunting her big belly.
In the caption, she wrote, “A lot of people have been asking what project I’m doing next, this one releases in December.”
