Crown Prince Christian's love life has taken a center stage at Royal house of Denmark as Queen Mary has issued a clear warning about his new girlfriend.
Christian - who just celebrated his 21st birthday earlier this week has is reportedly head over heels in love with Emma Nygaard, but Mary thinks he is taking all of this "too seriously."
“Christian is totally smitten by his girlfriend Emma Nygaard Fritzen,” an insider told New Idea.
They went on to explain, “There’s nothing quite as intense as a first, young love and Christian is already telling everyone that Emma is ‘The One’.”
However, the insider revealed that "Mary’s made it clear that she thinks Emma is a wonderful young lady, but it’s too soon to be getting this serious."
"She’s warned Christian that she’s not marriage material… yet," added the Danish royal source.
Speaking of King Frederik's stance on the situation, the source noted that he "agrees."
"He also wants Christian to pump the brakes on the relationship, for now at least," noted the source.
However, insiders also warned that the King and Queen resisting Christian's relationship with Emma can effect their relationship with the Crown Prince.
"Christian knows that his parents have his best interests at heart – Prince William said as much – but now that he’s 21 he doesn’t appreciate any of them ‘meddling’ as he sees it, in his love life especially," noted the insider.
The source claimed “He’s determined to prove that Emma has the makings of a future queen, and he doesn’t plan on cooling things with her any time soon.”
