The Gentlemen promotion row has made Meghan Markle face brutal mockery.
After a pal of the Duchess of Sussex blasted Guy Ritchie and Netflix for using her to promote the Season 2 of The Gentlemen, the video streaming giant broke their silence on the claim with a scathing response.
Speaking to The Times, a Netflix source slammed the narrative, stating, "This is not a show in need of stunt casting.”
About Meghan Markle’s The Gentlemen drama
When the Duchess of Sussex was preparing to move back to the UK back in August 2026, a surprise rumour began swirling that she will make her big acting comeback with Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen Season 3.
The rumour led to massive backlash against the former American actress, as viewers were not in favour of her being cast in the show.
Later on, the rumour turned out to be false, with reports claiming that Meghan has not been reached out to join the series.
In a conversation with The Telegraph, one of Meghan Markle’s friends said that Guy Ritchie and Netflix “used” her to promote The Gentlemen Season 2, which premiered in September 2026.
"Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote season two, because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third," they said.
The pal continued, "It's the oldest marketing trick in the book: get a big name to read a script, then leak that you're 'in conversation' with them when, in reality, nothing is particularly far along. The whole thing left a bit of a sour taste in the Sussex camp's mouth. Needless to say, Netflix got what it wanted: huge viewing figures for season two and a lot of publicity."
The Gentlemen Season 3 is currently under filming and will reportedly premiere in early 2028.
