Prince William and Kate Middleton spent an emotional day marking a tragic event.

The Prince and Princess of Wales took to their official Instagram account on Wednesday, October 21, to reflect on their meaningful day as they marked the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster with King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Alongside a carousel of glimpses from the visit, the Royal Couple shared that they joined the bereaved parents and survivors to reflect on the painful past tragedy.

They wrote, “Joining survivors, bereaved parents and members of the community to honour the memory of those who were taken far too soon and reflect on the strength, resilience and unity shown by the people of Aberfan in the aftermath.”

“A day to remember those who lost their lives, and to stand with a community whose courage and compassion continue to inspire,” the parents of three added.

Prince William’s latest update came after his estranged younger brother Prince Harry joined GQ’s Zach Baron for a video interview, which was filmed in late September during the Duke’s visit to NYC.

During their conversation, the host asked Harry whether he felt a sense of loss over his “complicated relationship” with his father and brother.

“Yes, of course,” Prince Harry answered, adding that family rifts are a “massively relatable issue for so many people. That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to. So I know how relatable it is.”

The father of two added, “That’s probably why there’s so much fascination. And then people maybe look at us and go, ‘How are you going to work it out?’ And then, maybe, how I see you’re going to work it out, maybe that will help me work my stuff out. And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out.”

Harry reiterated his desire for reconciliation, saying, “With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile.”

Asked whether the family rift could be repaired, he replied, “Yeah, of course,” adding that letting go of the past was important and there was already “enough drama in the world” without ongoing family conflicts.
