King Charles has been asked to step down and allow Prince William to sit on the throne in a surprising move.
Former professional footballer and self-proclaimed "massive royalist", Vinnie Jones, has shared that he wants the King to give up his position after he broke a pivotal rule of the royal family.
What rule did King Charles 'break'?
This is because both Charles and Queen Camilla are divorces.
Until 2002, divorced people were prohibited from marrying into the Royal Family. When the regulation was amended, it allowed Charles to marry his longtime companion in 2005.
However, on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Jones said that the directive should have remained in force.
Vienne Jones support for William and Kate
"I'm a massive royalist, you know. I support the royals massively," he told Theroux, who asked whether Jones should have got a tattoo of King Charles rather than Winston Churchill.
He added, "I'm a William and Kate supporter now. I think they've done it right. It's a tradition. I'm a right traditionalist. I love tradition."
When asked if he think Charles should not been allowed to take the throne because he married a divorcee, the former Leeds midfielder noted, "Well, they moved the goalpost, didn't they? They moved the rules. They changed the rules."
When Theroux put it to him that "times change, rules change," Jones admitted, "And I am a big example of that, Louis. I'm not going to knock the rules because I've knocked them all my life.
"But to be fair, I was hoping that he would have done the right thing and said, 'Thank you very much. We're going to step aside,' and William, Kate are going to be the king and queen. That, to me, was my Britain."
Vinnie Jones underwent career transition
Notably, Jones successfully transitioned into acting following his retirement from football, typically portraying tough-guy or enforcer roles.
He has featured in over 70 films and major television productions, including Guy Ritchie's Netflix series The Gentlemen.
