Vice President Kamala Harris raised over $50 million within 24 hours of announcing her candidacy for the 2024 presidential election.

This impressive fundraising effort has been warmly welcomed by the Democratic Party, marking one of the most significant early fundraising totals in history.

As per The New York Times, the donations came through ActBlue, the Democrats' preferred online donation platform.

By Monday morning, ActBlue had processed more than $80 million since President Biden announced he would not seek reelection.

The peak of this fundraising surge occurred on Sunday evening, with $11.5 million raised in a single hour. The Harris campaign was the primary beneficiary, securing $49.6 million by 5 a.m. Eastern time.

This influx of funds indicates strong support for Harris within the Democratic Party. The money will help her campaign regain momentum after a period of uncertainty following Biden's disappointing debate performance, which had caused major donors to hold back.

Sunday’s fundraising total was the third-largest single day in ActBlue's history.

The highest was recorded the day after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death in September 2020, when $73.5 million was raised.

While, the second-highest was following the first debate between Biden and Trump, which also aligned with a critical fundraising deadline.
