Billy Ray Cyrus expressed his frustration and emotional exhaustion, stating he is at "my wit's end," while addressing leaked audio that captures him berating his estranged wife, Firerose, amid their ongoing divorce.

Following his seven-month marriage to singer-songwriter Firerose (formerly known as Johanna Hodges), the 62-year-old country music icon took to social media on Wednesday, July 24, to address an audio recording that PEOPLE had obtained.

On the recording, he was heard disparaging and criticising Firerose.

Cyrus started out his statement on his Instagram Stories and through his representative, saying, “Hell yeah I was at my wit's end. As every day went by, I started realizing something was wrong. And that’s before I knew she was a fraud.”

“I just knew something wasn’t right. That was before I knew she was David Hodges' ex-wife. That’s before I knew her parents' last name,” he continued.

The Some Gave All singer also asserted, “Everything I thought I knew about her, was a lie,” alleging that Firerose, 37, “was trying to take over my career, my life and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain.”

In the conclusion, Cyrus warned the artist that he would see Firerose in court.

To note, in papers filed on June 14, Firerose had earlier accused Billy Ray Cyrus of "severe verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse."

Ten days later, Cyrus had filed papers alleging he had suffered verbal, mental, and physical abuse at the hands of Firerose.
