George Clooney came forward in support of current vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for the US president after Joe Biden stepped down.
In an official statement shared with CNN on Tuesday, the actor and influential democratic donor announced his support for Harris in her quest for the oval office in the upcoming US elections.
“President Biden has shown what true leadership is,” wrote Clooney in his statement.
He further noted, “He’s saving democracy once again. We’re all so excited to do whatever we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic quest.”
Clooney’s decision to show support for Harris after she secured enough support from Democratic delegates to become the party’s official nominee for president.
This update comes after Clooney’s devastating guest Op-Ed for The New York Times earlier this month suggesting Biden to step down for the good of the country.
“We are not going to win in November with this president,” predicted Clooney in his essay.
“On top of that, we won’t win the House, and we’re going to lose the Senate,” he added.
Meanwhile, Harris has also raised a record $81 million in grassroots donations in the first 24 hours since Joe Biden dropped out.
