Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the Oscars four times, including the 2024 ceremony, will not be returning as the host of the 2025.

According to PEOPLE, John Mulaney, who hosted the 14th Governors Awards and was a memorable presenter at the 2024 Oscars also declined the chance to host the 2025 ceremony.

On March 2, the 97th Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on ABC.

In 2017 and 2018, Kimmel was the host of the event; from 2019 to 2021, there was no host. Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Schumer served as the hosts for the 2022 event.

After making a comeback in 2023, Kimmel's 2024 program attracted 19.5 million viewers, the highest among the previous four years.

He also hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, an ABC game program.

About his preparations for the event last year, Jimmy Kimmel previously spoke with PEOPLE, saying, "The big challenge always is trying to keep the show moving, so it's a matter of picking your spots and popping in when you're needed and staying out of the picture when you're not."
