A major computing facility operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS) was damaged Wednesday following an Iranian missile and drone strike.

The attack marks a sharp escalation in the regional conflict as Tehran begins targeting the digital backbone of the global economy.

The strike caused a significant fire at the Bahrain site. In an official statement, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed that civil defense teams were “extinguishing a fire in a facility of a company as a result of the Iranian aggression.”

While the government did not initially name the firm, sources familiar with the matter confirmed the site belongs to Amazon’s cloud division.

This assault follows a chilling warning from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, who recently listed 18 US tech giants as complicit in military actions.

The Guards stated that from Wednesday evening, these companies “should expect the destruction of their relevant units in exchange for every assassination in Iran.”

They further cautioned, “We advise the employees of these institutions to immediately leave their workplaces to preserve their lives.”

Tech experts warn that targeting data centers could cause widespread disruption to banking and aviation. Amazon has not yet released a detailed damage report.
