Undisputed boxing champion Terence “Bud” Crawford has named the fighter he believes will dominate the sport next. Crawford revealed that lightweight world champion Shakur Stevenson is virtually untouchable in the ring and fully prepared to take over as boxing’s leading star.

High praise for Stevenson

When asked who is positioned to lead the sport after his own career ends, Crawford pointed directly to his longtime training partner. Speaking in a recent interview, Crawford confidently declared:

“Yeah, I think Shakur for sure. Shakur hands down. I think, you know, given the opportunity, he’s going to show the world that he’s the best.”

Dedicated work ethic

Crawford explained that Stevenson’s relentless discipline and defensive skills put him on another level. He noted that Stevenson’s commitment sets him apart, pointing out that “his mental, his defense, his attributes, you know, just him taking his craft serious” make him special.

Crawford added that Stevenson is the rare type of athlete “that you got to pull out the gym because he don’t want to not be in the gym.”

An unbeatable prediction

While any fighter can theoretically lose on a bad night, Crawford insists no active contender possesses the skills to defeat the lightweight champ.

Expressing ultimate faith in Stevenson’s ability, Crawford said, “Everybody is beatable but I don’t see nobody beating him.”

Passing the torch

The ringing endorsement highlights a long-standing mentorship between the two fighters. Stevenson has regularly cited Crawford as his primary role model and Crawford’s latest comments signal that the torch of boxing royalty is ready to be passed.
