Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo planning to make shocking career move after heartbreaking exit from his last FIFA World Cup.
According to TalkSport, Ronaldo has been tipped for an acting career ahead of starring in a new football TV show.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is set to appear in a series about a fictional football agent.
Band of Brothers star Damian Lewis will play the lead role in the show, which Ronaldo is serving as an executive producer on.
With filming already underway, including at League Two club Barnet, the Portugal captain is expected to cameo in the show, called Day 1s.
As per The Sun, Thierry Henry will also play a role in the series having been pictured at Barnet's The Hive Stadium.
The show is based on a concept devised by the Arsenal legend's real-life agent Darren Dein.
Bidding war between streamers
Dein is also one of the show's executive producers with the series expected to be in high demand amongst streaming platforms.
A source told The Sun, "It’s likely to spark a bidding war between the streamers. The sheer calibre of figures behind it, not to mention the cast, means it’s a prestige project, albeit a surprising one for Ronaldo as he crosses into making dramas."
"After the World Cup, there’s a renewed international interest, particularly in the States, in British football. It’s one that’s been growing for some time with shows like Ted Lasso. But this isn’t a sitcom. It’s definitely a drama, with some comedic elements, and has some serious names backing it," the tipster added.
Alongside Golden Globe winner Lewis, British rapper Dave will also star in Day 1s alongside newcomer Carlotta Banat.
Meanwhile, the newly-formed UR Marv Studios will make the show.
The firm is a collaboration between Ronaldo and director Matthew Vaughn.
