Miley Cyrus is all set to enter a new music era.
In a new issue of Wonderland magazine on Monday, July 27, the Flowers hitmaker announced that she has parted ways with Columbia Records and signed with Atlantic Records, marking a major career move.
The article, which includes a wide-ranging conversation between Cyrus and Daryl Hannah, also features the Hannah Montana star’s thoughts about music, a possible acting comeback, and growing up in spotlight.
“For me, a song isn’t just chords, melody, and lyrics. It’s a feeling,” she said, continuing, “It’s not right or wrong like an answer. It’s alive. It almost becomes its own little entity that tells you what it needs if you’re listening. I love making records with people who aren’t precious about ideas.”
The Wrecking Ball singer added, “Everyone is there because they’re excited by the same thing. There’s no ego in the room when it’s working. Just curiosity. It’s really special to be surrounded by people who want to surprise each other and are comfortable throwing an idea away or expanding on it.”
When Daryl Hannah asked Miley Cyrus about her future in acting or director roles, she replied, “Well…That’s partly why I wanted to get in touch. I’d genuinely love to do both. My dream has always been to work with artists I admire, and you’re one of them. I think we’d make magic together, Daryl. I have an idea. Call me.’”
Miley Cyrus’ Columbia Records journey
Miley Cyrus signed with Columbia Records in March 2021, shortly after releasing her seventh studio album, Plastic Hearts, which was her final project under RCA Records.
During her time with Columbia Records, the 33-year-old American singer released two albums: Endless Summer Vacation in 2023, which featured the global hit track Flowers, and Something Beautiful in 2025, an experimental visual album accompanied by a musical film.
