Lollapalooza turned into a spectacular on Friday night as big stars came together for an epic surprise.
In a historic moment, the Smashing Pumpkins returned to Lollapalooza for a thrilling headlining show on Friday, July 31, in Chicago’s Grant Park, marking their first time back as a headliner in 32 years.
During the set, the hit American alternative rock band’s lead vocalist and guitarist Billy Corgan brought nostalgia with his decades-old songs.
Yungblud joins the Smashing Pumpkins at Lollapalooza
At the event, the Smashing Pumpkins delivered a major surprise to cheer the crowd, bringing out Yungblud on stage.
During the show, the 28-year-old English musician and singer belted out a rendition of Luna with Corgan.
Luna is the closing track on the Smashing Pumpkins’ second studio album, Siamese Dream, which they released back in 1993.
Wearing matching black outfits, Yungblud confidently performed the song’s energetic verses as Corgan accompanied him on guitar.
“This is a fucking dream come true!” declared the I Was Made for Lovin’ You crooner on stage.
Olivia Rodrigo joins the Smashing Pumpkins at Lollapalooza
At the Bud Light Stage, Corgan sparked excitement among the crowd by bringing out Olivia Rodrigo on stage in an epic surprise.
“And now I’d like to bring out a very, very special guest. Miss Olivia Rodrigo!” announced the guitarist as the audience cheered.
Together, the duo performed the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1965 hit track Thirty-Three from their album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
Notably, this was not the first time when Rodrigo shared the stafe with alt-rock legend, as over the past few years, she has also performed with The Cure’s Robert Smith, Weezer, David Byrne, Avril Lavigne, No Doubt, and more.
The 2026 Lollapalooza is set to conclude on August 2.
