A woman, initially believed to be BLACKPINK's fan, was arrested in Mapo District, western Seoul, after trying to smash a glass door of K-pop giant YG Entertainment's headquarters with a golf club.
The Thursday night incident happened amid backlash the agency is facing over an upcoming meet and greet marking girl group BLACKPINK's 10th anniversary.
A video circulating widely on social media showed the unidentified woman lunging toward the building's entrance, then repeatedly swinging the club at the glass door.
On Friday, August 7, police shared that the woman is being questioned about the circumstances surrounding the incident and her motive.
BLACKPINK 10th anniversary event with only 40 fans
On Thursday, August 6, YG announced that it would be holding an event to celebrate the renowned girl group's 10th anniversary on Saturday.
Some fans criticised the two-day notice and the event's limited capacity of 40 people.
Applications to the event were also restricted to those with paid fan memberships, from 1 p.m. on Thursday to 10 p.m., which once again highlighted the group's little interaction with their fanbase in recent years.
Moreover, the initial notice did not guarantee that all four members of BLACKPINK would attend, stating that only those available would take part in the event.
All members to participate in event marking a decade of BLACKPINK
YG Entertainment, however, confirmed on Friday that all four members will attend the event.
"We have confirmed with [individual] labels that all four members will be attending [the meet-and-greet]," YG Entertainment told the Korea JoongAng Daily, addressing earlier concerns that some members might not be there.

The label is responsible for the group activities of BLACKPINK; however all four members, Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé, are all under separate agencies for their individual activities.
BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016, under YG Entertainment with the album Square One.
The four members' contract with the agency concluded in 2023, and none of the members renewed.
Jennie founded her own agency, OA Entertainment; Rosé signed with The Black Label; Lisa and Jisoo also founded their own agency, Lloud and Blissoo, respectively.
