Travis Barker has opened up about why he and his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, chose to publicly discuss the miscarriage they experienced.
Speaking on The New York Times' Popcast about his Hulu documentary Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, Barker revealed why he and Kourtney Kardashian chose to publicly discuss their miscarriage.
Barker said he and Kardashian Barker chose to share their story in the hope that others could relate to their experience or find comfort in it.
“When there’s things that can benefit people or help people relate to something, I think that’s always like a green light, especially — she’s always trying to do something like that,” he explained.
Barker noted, “Our journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it’s failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally — like I feel like that’s a story that so many people can relate [to].”
He explained that, rather than addressing it on The Kardashians, the documentary's interview format gave them a more comfortable space to reflect on the loss.
“The way the documentary happens is through a series of interviews. I’ll say something, and then they’re like, ‘Oh, well tell me more about that,’ ” he said, before adding, “And that’s how that came up.”
Barker and Kardashian Barker share a blended family of nine, including their son Rocky Thirteen, born in November 2023.
During a February 2025 episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian Barker said blending their family required time and adjustment.
She said, “Us in their space and then us being out of our space and into a new space. But it’s really good, but I do want to get this going. And my stepkids have lived in their home for their whole lives. It’s new, all living together in one house, which is nice. It is change, but I think we’re at a really amazing place with it.”

Kourtney Kardashian also shares three children with ex Scott Disick, while Travis Barker has two children with ex-wife Shanna Moakler and remains close to his stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya.
