A voluntary recall of over 1.5 million eggs has been issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration this week due to the potential risk of Salmonella.
The recall got a "Class I" designation on Wednesday, with the FDA warning of a "situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death."

The recall was initiated on July 22 by Midwest Poultry Services after identifying the issue at two of its Texas farms "through environmental monitoring practices and root cause analysis."
During the initial recall notice in July, the company stated it would stop distributing eggs from the Texas locations.
Midwest Poultry Services had distributed the eggs to Kroger and Brookshire Grocery Company stores in six US states, including Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The recalled eggs were sold under multiple brand names, including Kroger, Simple Truth Cage Free, Brookshire’s, Country Morning and Sunups and were given sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17.
