Another exciting instalment of Ashoka is officially on the way to its global release!

On Friday, August 14th, Disney unveiled an official trailer for the long-awaited Star Wars sequel, starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in his never-before-seen avatar.

His character’s return in the new movie has raised fans’ expectations, as he shared the small screen with prequel trilogy co-star Hayden Christensen and has continued to campaign for Disney and Lucasfilm to greenlight a second season.

The new trailer unveiled at D23 sees Rosario Dawson return as Ahsoka as Grand Admiral Thrawn brings the fight back to the galaxy, with the New Republic facing a growing threat from the Empire and the Nightsisters.

Ewan McGregor's statement

Speaking about the upcoming instalment, Ewan said, "There seems to be no — I don't know of any — progress in that direction."

"But I would like to think that there might be... I mean, there's got to be a few good stories left to tell," he told Entertainment Tonight.

However, while McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 dreams might not come true any time soon, that doesn't mean we'll never see his version of the noble Jedi on screen again. It could even happen as soon as next year.

The film is expected to be released on January 20th, 2027.

Notably, the trailer reveals plenty of New Republic vs. Imperial Remnant action as well as Ahsoka Tano and Sabine's adventures on Peridea in Star Wars’ secondary galaxy.

This season, like last season, will include new live-action flashbacks to Ahsoka's and Anakin's experiences during the Clone Wars.
