Apple is reportedly gearing up to release the latest Mac mini in the near future, potentially ahead of its highly anticipated September event, which is set to bring the flagship iPhone 18 series, alongside other launches.

As per Bloomberg, the significant update would mark the first Mac mini refresh in nearly two years and could launch before the Cupertino-based tech giant launches its top-notch iPhone series.

The reported release comes as demand for the Mac mini has risen, partly because users are turning to the compact desktop for running the cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) applications and models.

However, Apple has been facing supply-chain related issues, with some customers waiting weeks and months for deliveries.

Notably, the company has experimented with some variants of the latest Mac mini featuring M5 and M6 chips, although it remains unclear which processor will power the model likely to launch soon such as a refreshed iMac with new color options and an entry-level MacBook Pro featuring the upcoming M6 chip.

The Mac mini’s production plans have also garnered significant attraction. Previously, Apple announced that it intends to manufacture the desktop computer at its Houston facility by the end of this year.

The facility is home to Apple’s Advanced Manufacturing Center and already produces AI servers.

Beyond the forthcoming Mac mini, a report suggested Apple entails an enlarged Mac redesign in development.

Notably, Apple is likely to launch its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, consisting of OLED displays and redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models.

Looking further ahead, Apple is also likely to release the latest MacBook Air and MacBook Neo models next year, alongside second-generation touchscreen MacBook Pro models equipped with advanced M7 chips.

If the Mac mini arrives in the coming days, it could become one of Apple’s most unexpected pre-iPhone-event product launches of 2026.
