Visual Concepts and 2K have revealed massive updates for NBA 2K27, introducing groundbreaking features designed to transform how gamers play on the virtual court.
The game launches globally on September 4, 2026, with early access opening for pre-order players.
A historic co-ed experience
For the first time in franchise history, NBA 2K27 brings male and female MyPLAYERs together on the same court. Players can explore a unified, co-ed virtual City and compete side-by-side in modes like The REC and Street Kings.
Visual Concepts confirmed that player ratings and builds will rely strictly on attributes rather than appearances. As developers explained, “All MyPlayers, male and female, are built on the exact same framework.”
Deeper career and legacy modes
Gamers can play through five distinct historical eras in MyCAREER, spanning from the 1984 Magic vs. Bird era to the 2016 Steph Curry era. The game introduces a new 11-chapter story called “Fire & Concrete.”
Developer updates promise a brand-new way to team up with friends: “For the first time ever, players can invite a friend to play co-op directly in their MyCAREER.”
Upgraded gameplay and badges
On-court action brings smarter hands-up defense and a Dynamic Layup Engine. A total of 53 Badges will be available alongside new Badge Tokens to customize player abilities.
Developers highlighted the game’s shift toward balance, promising “the most balanced gameplay yet” for offensive and defensive players alike.
Cover stars and mobile sync
San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama headlines the Standard Edition, Caitlin Clark covers the Deluxe Edition and Derrick Rose leads the Ultra Edition.
Players can also build characters on the go using the new NBA 2K HQ mobile app.
