Rupert Grint is dusting off old robes as he is set to reprise his infamous role of Harry Potter on Broadway.
On Wednesday, August 26th, the Harry Potter franchise announced that the 38-year-old American actor is set to join the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.
He will reprise his iconic role as Ron Weasley at Broadway's Lyric Theatre from February 2nd to May 30th, 2027.
"Rupert Grint returns to the role of Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway, beginning February 2, 2027. Sign up for first access to tickets at HarryPotterBroadway.com," they stated in the caption.
According to the media reports, he will play an adult version of Ron in the play, which centres on the next generation of Hogwarts students.

However, as the new announcement made it to the Gram, several fans criticised it, sparking a wave of disappointed responses from LGBTQ+ fans and allies.
One fan noted, "I thought you were an ally."
"Protect the dolls," another commented.
Why Rupert Grint was under fire?
The frustration stems in part from Rupert's own history of supporting the trans community, as he previously bashed JK Rowling's views over the trans community.
At the time, he suggested, "I firmly stand with the trans community… Trans women are women. Trans men are men."

Breaking his silence over the backlash as he spoke about his role, he said, "Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can't wait to meet him again in this stage of life."
"There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron's shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new. And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life, is truly exciting," he added.
