The PGA Tour officially suspends PGA Tour Champions player Matt Gogel for six months following a breach of the Tour’s Integrity Program. Officials confirmed he placed wagers on professional golf competitions.
The ban began on August 23, 2026, and keeps him out of sanctioned events until February 22, 2027.

The Tour emphasized that Gogel never bet on any tournaments where he was an active participant. He also fully cooperated with officials during the investigation.
The 55-year-old golfer took to social media to clarify his actions, stating, “In 2024 and 2025, I unknowingly violated the PGA Tour policy by placing small recreational wagers on gold.”
Gogel assures fans
Gogel stressed that his wagers did not target major circuit events. He noted, “I want to be clear that these wagers were not placed on regular PGA TOUR events, PGA TOUR Champions events or any tournament in which I participated.”
Expressing remorse, he added, “I would never knowingly violate the integrity of the game of golf. I made an honest mistake and I look forward to playing in 2027 on the PGA TOUR Champions.”
Season impact
The suspension effectively ends Gogel’s 2026 season. He was enjoying a solid year including a tied-second finish at the ISPS Handa Senior Open in July. He will miss the remainder of the 2026 schedule and the start of the 2027 season.
