Norwegian Royal Family has introduced a new ruling monarch after the demise of King Harald V.
As the Norwegian Empire mourns the loss of the oldest King, who died at 89 after a brief illness, the Crown Prince has now embraced key responsibilities that were previously fulfilled by his late father.
On Friday, August 28th, Haakon's office released a new portrait of himself, but this time as King of Norway.
"His Majesty King Haakon VII," the royal family announced.
This update came after Haakon confirmed the death of his father, King Harald V, in a sombre statement.
How King Herald died?
For those unaware, the late monarch peacefully died at the age of 89 after being hospitalised for a few days at the National Hospital in Oslo at 6:35 a.m.
The Royal Palace announced that he had been admitted to the hospital since August 17th, after undergoing a medical examination.
According to the tragic announcement, Harald had been receiving cortisone treatment for hemolytic anaemia, a blood disorder that had caused fluid to accumulate in his body.
As the news of his passing broke, speculations about Crown Prince Haakon's coronation ceremonies emerged, whether he would hold a coronation ceremony or he would simply take an oath before parliament.
Well, before taking the oath, the royal family announced him as the new King of Norway.

However, his wife, Mette-Marit, is now the Queen consort of Norway following the death of King Harald V and the ascension of her husband as King Haakon VII.
Haakon's daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra becomes the Crown Princess of Norway at the age of 22.
His Majesty also shares his son, Prince Sverre Magnus, with Mette Marit and is also a step father of Marius Borg Høiby, who does not hold a royal title.
