Prince William and Princess Kate have expressed their grief following the deadly floods in Nepal, joining King Charles in offering condolences as the UK pledges support to those affected.
A devastating flash flood along the Nepal-China border has killed at least 350 people, with more than 1,000 others still missing.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared his sorrow over the Nepal disaster in a personal statement posted to social media on August 27, while emphasizing the close bond between the country and Britain.
The joint statement said, “The scale of the devastation along the Nepal-China border is shocking. We are thinking of everyone caught up in this terrible disaster.”
It added, “Our thoughts are especially with the families facing an unbearable wait for news and with the communities confronting such immense loss.We are incredibly grateful to all those working in such dangerous conditions to rescue people and support those affected.”

To note, Nepal’s Tourism Board says at least 517 foreign nationals remain missing, with India reporting the highest number at 178.

A catastrophic flash flood along the Nepal–Tibet border has left at least 359 people confirmed dead in Nepal and more than 1,000 people missing across both countries.
The disaster began on the morning of Wednesday, August 26, 2026, tearing through Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts along the Trishuli and Bhote Koshi rivers.
As reported by the US Geological Survey (USGS), the disaster was caused by a massive Himalayan glacier collapse and subsequent debris flow, rather than heavy rainfall or an earthquake.
They said a glacier collapse triggered a massive ice fall and debris flow, causing catastrophic flooding in Nepal and China.
The event was initially mistaken for a magnitude 4.4 earthquake.
