Prince Harry’s first family member spoke publicly about his return to the UK has revealed their reaction, offering a rare glimpse into how his family is responding to his latest visit.
Lady Eliza Spencer, daughter of Diana’s brother Charles Spencer and Harry’s first cousin, is the first family member to publicly address his return to the UK with Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Speaking to the Mirror on August 26, Eliza said she was thrilled to have Harry and his family back in the UK.
“Absolutely, it’s exciting!” Eliza, 34, told the outlet while attending the launch of her rosé brand, Lala V, in London.
She added, “We would love to be able to find some time to visit.”
The Sussexes touched down in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon after flying privately from California with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five.
The family was reportedly preparing to move back to Harry’s native UK, with Archie and Lilibet already signed up at a British school.
The Sussexes travelled to a private residence after landing, with its exact location being kept secret, though it is thought to be in the Cotswolds.
Harry and Meghan are reportedly keeping their Montecito property despite plans to spend more time in the UK, with family proximity and their children’s education among the possible reasons.
Despite tensions with senior royals, Harry has maintained strong ties with his late mother’s relatives and is especially close to Earl Spencer.
In July, Harry and Meghan took Archie and Lilibet to Althorp, Diana’s childhood home and resting place, where they spent time with Charles Spencer, Cat Jarman and relatives from Diana’s side of the family.
Sources said Harry has wanted to rebuild his life in Britain for years and has always missed his home country.
The move would bring Harry closer to friends and family, though he and Prince William remain estranged and reportedly still have “no contact.”
