Grand Theft Auto 6 may not support nearly 60 frames-per-second mode following its release, as per comments attributed to Rockstar North head of development Rob Nelson.
The information comes from YouTube personality Davy Jones, who recently visited Rockstar North before the launch of GTA 6: An Extended Look.
As per Jones, the game was running at 30 FPS on consoles during the development period.
Will GTA 6 support 60 FPS?
Jones stated Nelson explained that Rockstar’s technical team requires to know whether a 60 FPS option will be accessible at release.
A report suggested the developer kept the details under wraps regarding the game’s final resolution. Ray tracing and other graphical settings.
Currently, however, 30 FPS is seemingly a part of the performance target during development.
Much to the dismay of players, the news has sparked disappointment on players who were expecting a performance mode on the PS5 Pro.
PS5 Pro and future performance
Several players had been hoping GTA 6 could provide a 40 FPS mode for 120Hz displays on PS5 Pro, with no official update available related to it.
Historically, Rockstar has prioritised visual quality in its console launches. Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, remains limited to 30 FPS on consoles.
What about GTA 6 on PC?
Rockstar has yet to officially announce a PC variant of GTA 6 yet. If one launches, PC hardware could offer the best opportunity for players to enjoy games at an increased frame rate.
For now, Rockstar has not officially confirmed the final performance modes or technical specifications for GTA 6, leaving the possibility of a 60 FPS option open.
