South Korean star, Lee Yong-joo, unexpectedly died at the age of 44. 

On Saturday, August 29, multiple media reports confirmed the sudden death of the Blue Tower star, leaving the internet in shock. 

His passing was announced by the late star’s close pal on Instagram, stating, "My friend Lee Yong-joo passed away suddenly." 

"I still cannot believe the sudden news," adding to urge fans to "remember Yong-joo" in prayers as he embarked on his final journey.

The South Korean actor's cause of death has also been revealed, as he died due to a massive heart attack.

Notably, the funeral hall for the deceased has been set up in Room 5 of Bundang Jesaeng Hospital Funeral Hall. 

Fans' reaction over Lee Yong-joo's death 

The coffin viewing will take place at 1 p.m. on the 30th, and the funeral procession will occur at 6:30 a.m. on the 31st. The burial site is Seongnam City Crematorium. 

As the news of his death was confirmed, several fans expressed shock, with one saying, "No."

"This is horrific news!!! I have no words RIP," another added.

While a third commented, "Not another one. Why so many? What’s happening is people pressuring them to work so hard. Someone needs to investigate all these deaths." 

Lee Yong-joo's career highlights 

Lee Yong-joo began his acting journey with the 2004 film Do-ma Ahn Jung-geun; later, he appeared in the 2005 MBC drama Hello, Francesca, and the 2006 MBC drama Gung

From 2009 to 2014, he starred in the tvN series The Ugly Duchess Young-ae.  

He also shot to fame from 2012 to 2014, as he gained public recognition by portraying Private Lee Yong-joo in the tvN series Blue Tower.  

In 2022, he made a special appearance as Jeong Da-jeong in the ENA drama, New Recruit

The work has become his final project.

Due to the sudden news, memorials for those who remember the deceased are continuing on social media and elsewhere.
