Crown Princess Victoria has shared an emotional tribute to King Harald, revealing the special bond they shared and remembering the late monarch as a beloved godfather.
The Crown Princess of Sweden took to Instagram account on Saturday to release an emotional statement on the death of Norwegian monarch, King Harald V, remembering King Harald as “a true role model.”
King Harald was a deeply beloved godfather — always welcoming and warm. He had an easy laugh and a twinkle in his eye.
She penned the touching note, “An exceptionally wonderful person. A true role model.”
Victoria added, “Some people leave a mark that time can never erase. King Harald was one of them. With his warmth and presence, he had a rare ability to truly see people.”
She stated, “Uncle Harald, you will remain forever in the hearts of all of us who loved you!”
“These days, Prince Daniel and I are thinking of Norway and its people. We send our warmest condolences to Queen Sonja, King Haakon and Queen Mette-Marit, as well as to the entire Norwegian Royal Family,” the Princess concluded her message.
King Harald V death
On Friday, August 28, Oslo’s Royal Palace announced the heartbreaking news that King Harald V had died peacefully at 6:35 a.m. local time at the National Hospital.
The Norwegian Royal Family had reportedly assembled at Oslo University Hospital after scrapping scheduled engagements amid concerns over the monarch’s declining health.
His son Prince Haakon, daughter-in-law Princess Mette-Marit and mother Queen Sonja besides other members of the Royal Family were said to be by Harald V's bedside after confirming that he was in an "extremely serious" condition.
After his death, Haakon's office released a new portrait of himself as King of Norway.
However, his wife, Mette-Marit, is now the Queen consort of Norway following the death of King Harald V and the ascension of her husband as King Haakon VII and his daughter Princess Ingrid Alexandra becomes the Crown Princess of Norway at the age of 22.
