Tom Cruise has announced the sequel to Days of Thunder with Anne Hathaway.
On Saturday, August 29th, the Jerry Maguire actor took to his Instagram account to confirm that the upcoming film will arrive in 2028.
The announcement was made with a heartfelt image of Tom and Anne as they posed alongside a sports car, showing the title of the new movie with the expected release date.
Notably, the two stars confirmed the sequel at Daytona International Speedway, as the film will open in theatres on June 2nd, 2028.
What roles will Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway play in Days of Thunder?
For those unaware, Tom will reprise his role as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle and will be joined by Anne Hathaway, who is set to play a team owner and engineer in the upcoming follow-up to the groundbreaking 1990 film that revolutionised cinema.
The actor will also serve as the producer of the forthcoming project alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.
Jonathan Levine is set to direct from a script by Will Staples.
Days of Thunder will be filmed for IMAX and will also be available in Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and other premium large formats.
As Anne Hathaway joined Tom Cruise for the new venture, fans expressed their excitement, with one saying, “Droppin’ the hammer!”
“NO FREAKING WAYYYYYYY!!! My dad and I have been saying for YEARS this movie deserves a sequel! I’m actually so excited!” another commented.
While a third noted, “I AM SO SAT I AM SO SO SAT. MOTHER IS MOTHERING!!!!”
