Liam Lawson's fans are asking the F1 driver to take a cover after he unintentionally took a dig at the K-pop boy band BTS in the latest promotional video for the Visa Cash App RB F1 team.
In an almost 10-minute video posted on the team's YouTube channel, titled "Most Streamed Artists EVER? | Top 10s", the 24-year-old sat down to play a game when he had to guess different "top 10s".
The first question was, "Who are the most streamed artists of all time on Spotify", to which the driver guessed the top two correctly, Taylor Swift and Drake.
He struggled with the rest of the list in the video, guessing six out of 10 with his three chances, and while his team was informing him about the artists he missed, he had a surprising reaction.
Liam Lawson calls BTS 'behind the scenes'
After a voice behind the camera shared with Liam that on number 10 of the list was BTS, the New Zealand driver looked confused and asked, "Behind The Scenes, who are they?" earning laughter before the team switched to the next question.
The BTS clip went viral on X, garnering 1.2 million views on the single video, with fans joking that they might not be able to see Liam on the grid anymore due to the backlash he would face from the Kpop group's fans.
One user penned, "when we don't see liam in monza we know what happened to him. rip man"
As the video went viral, fans of BTS, which recently made headlines after two of the 7 members attended Chris Brown's concert, hit back, claiming that the boy band also have no idea who Liam is, with one fan writing, "Him not knowing bts is fine he don't even know which team he is driving next year so."
"The way he worded it is simply rude. He could've said like "I don't know them" or "I'm not familiar with BTS" but the way he said it, it seems like he's disrespecting them. Idgaf about who he is but I won't bear if anyone disrespects BTS music," another fan noted.
"Its normal to not know BTS why are yall acting psychotic," another X post read.
On the other hand, Liam Lawson was called up to race Red Bull in the Dutch Grand Prix after Isack Hadjar was ruled out due to a wrist injury, with the New Zealander returning to the team after being dropped following two races in 2025.
