King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia have made their first solemn appearance after the tragic school incident.
On Sunday, August 30th, the Swedish royal family took to the official Instagram account to share an exclusive glimpse of Their Majesties.
The two were pictured paying their respects as they appeared holding hands, while the Queen is seen holding flowers, which she laid at Fagersta.
For the outing, the 80-year-old Swedish monarch sported a black suit which he paired with a matching tie.
His life partner was in a black skirt, coordinating her look with a coat.
This appearance came after a tragic incident occurred in Fagersta, Sweden, on August 21st, 2026.
When happened at Fagresta, Sweden's school?
An 18-year-old former student wearing a helmet and carrying a sword attacked students at Brinell High School in Fagersta, Sweden, on August 21, 2026, killing a 17-year-old girl and injuring three others.
The incident occurred shortly after schools reopened from summer recess.
After the incident, police arrived shortly after the alert, shot and neutralised the attacker, and took him into custody on suspicion of murder.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and opposition leader Magdalena Andersson visited the school, where flower tributes have been laid to honour the victims, on Saturday morning.
Sweden’s public broadcaster reported that the suspect was wearing a helmet. Local media also said he was a former student.
After the horrific incident, King Carl Gustaf expressed utter dismay and sadness in his statement, showing respect to the grieving families.

"It is with dismay and sadness that we received the message that Sweden has once again been hit by a school bombing. My thoughts are with those closest to those affected, their families and relatives," the royal family added.
The King’s statement continued, "I also want to express my understanding of the concern this causes for students, school staff, parents in Fagersta and our entire society".
