Meghan Markle’s biggest obstacle to returning to Britain has been revealed, with Prince Harry reportedly having to convince her to give life in the UK another chance.
As reported by Heat Magazine, a source shared that the Duchess of Sussex has warned her husband that she will not hesitate to return to the US if she feels miserable in Britain.
“In Meghan’s mind, she hasn’t given up on America. She’s agreed to give Britain a proper chance, but she will always see the US as her home,” an insider said.
A source added, “That was the biggest obstacle Harry had to overcome to get her to agree to the move. Keeping their American home was also hugely important because she wasn’t prepared to burn her bridges. Harry had to convince her that they could build a very different life in Britain to the one they had before.”
They continued, “She’s agreed to try it, but she’s not prepared to commit to it long-term just yet. Harry knows she needs an escape plan, because otherwise she would feel as though she was surrendering everything she has built in the States.”

The couple and their two children landed at Birmingham Airport last Wednesday after travelling privately from Meghan’s native California, where they have lived for six years.
The Sussexes have not revealed how long they will stay in the UK, but sources say the visit will be extended, with their children starting at a British school in September.
The move has raised eyebrows given Harry and Meghan’s past criticism of royal life, including their 2021 Oprah interview in which Meghan discussed her mental health struggles.
In their 2022 Netflix series, Harry and Meghan continued to discuss their negative experiences as working royals. Harry later made further claims in Spare, accusing the royals of “unconscious bias” and expressing concern over his family’s safety.
