Heated Rivalry season 2 has been garnering more attention, as the production reveals new cast additions for the season set to premiere in spring 2027.
On Thursday, September 4, three more stars were revealed to be included in the second season of the hit Canadian queer series, which follows romance and hockey.
New cast addition for 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2
The new cast members included Ukrainian-American actress Milla Jovovich, who starred in the Resident Evil, Kevin Zegers (Gossip Girl), and Canadian film, television and theatre stalwart Paul Gross, known for the CTV-CBS series Due South and the films Men With Brooms and Passchendaele.
Heated Rivalry follows Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), two hockey players who navigate a secret romance spanning years.
In the second season, Jovovich will portray Dr Galina Molchalina, a Russian-speaking therapist who supports Ilya, and Zegers will play Coach Wiebe the head coach of the Ottawa Centaurs, the fictitious team Shane plays for.
Edvin Ryding is part of 'Heated Rivalry' season 2
As previously reported by Variety, the hit Canadian show has unveiled five more new additions to the series' second season, including Edvin Ryding, who rose to prominence after Netflix's queer series, The Young Royals.
Besides the Swedish actor, other new cast members joining Heated Rivalry include Emily Hamshire (Schitt's Creek), Robert Naylor (Mile End Kicks), Sabrina Jalees (I Used to Be Funny) and Priyanka (Drag Brunch Saved My Life).
They will appear alongside fellow new additions Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie.
In Season 2 of Heated Rivalry, based on the Game Changers books by Rachel Reid, Hampshire will play Vanessa, Ryding is set to play Luca Haas. Naylor will play Wyatt Hayes, with Jalees as Farah Jalali. Priyanka will star as Tarek.
About 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2
Season 2 of the sports-romance series is set to premiere in Spring 2027.
The upcoming season will follow book 6 of the Game Changers series, The Long Game, for the continuity of Shane and Ilya's story while also adding elements from Role Model (Book 5) for the official TV debut of Troy Barrett and Harris Drover.
In the fifth book, Troy Barrett (Gillespie) is a hockey player on Ilya's team with a history of bullying, while Harris Drover (Smith) is the team's cheerful social media manager.
